We keep it simple. If you’re TLC-licensed and ready to work, we can get you set up quickly.

  • TLC-registered vehicle (your own or leased)
  • Valid driver’s license (NY preferred)
  • Clean driving record
  • Auto insurance meeting TLC minimums
  • Smartphone for dispatch app
Vehicle Types We Dispatch

Black car sedans, SUVs, minivans, wheelchair-accessible vehicles (WAV), and ambulatory transport vehicles. Most standard TLC vehicles qualify.

Medical Accounts (NEMT/WAV)

For Medicaid, hospital, and clinic trips, you’ll also need vehicle inspection certification and — for WAV — proper tie-down and securement equipment.

NYC DOE & Access-A-Ride

Government contract accounts may require additional background screening. Our onboarding team will walk you through every step — no surprises.

Questions drivers ask us

Can I drive for both Classic Ryde and Uber/Lyft?

Yes. There’s no exclusivity requirement. Many of our drivers split their time, using Classic Ryde for scheduled medical and government trips and app platforms when they want flexibility.

When and how do I get paid?

Payment schedules vary by account type. Most drivers are paid weekly. Direct deposit is available. Contact our onboarding team for specifics on your account.

Do I have to work a minimum number of hours?

No. Your schedule is yours. The flat-rate weekly option does require weekly enrollment to activate, but there’s no minimum hours or trip requirement.

What if I have a WAV (wheelchair-accessible vehicle)?

WAV drivers are in high demand — especially for NEMT and Access-A-Ride. We prioritize WAV onboarding. You’ll likely have more trip volume than a standard sedan.

Can I choose which accounts I work with?

Yes. During onboarding you’ll indicate your preferred account types — medical, DOE, airport, etc. — and we’ll activate you for those specifically.

What’s the dispatch marketplace?

Available trips from all accounts are visible through our dispatch system before you accept. You choose what works for your route and schedule — no forced assignments.
